Columbus House, Oak Ridge

About: Columbus House is a large ranch style home in Oak Ridge, NJ. Throughout 2016, Columbus House provided 2,139 days of care to 6 people with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities and autism.

History: Columbus House opened at the site of the closed Camp Alexander in Oak Ridge, NJ in 1980. Columbus House was named after the Knights of Columbus for their many contributions to DPD. The Knights of Columbus are the largest Catholic, Fraternal Service Organization in the world.

To date, the Knights have raised more than $3,000,000 for DPD through disability drives and other endeavors; in addition to donating a countless number of hours.

In 1987, renovation work was completed on Columbus House to accommodate non-ambulatory residents. In 2002, major renovations doubled the size of Columbus House increasing the people served from 4 to 6.
