Giuliano House Opens

On December 8th our 10th group home and 12th residential program opened in Jefferson Township, New Jersey.

The house is named after Dr. Joseph Giuliano who has been the longest tenured board member at DPD. He started as the residents' dentist about 35 years ago. He has never turned any of the people who we serve away, regardless of their financial situation. He advocates for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and works diligently to assure that their needs are met. Dr. Giuliano is generous, kind and is always there when we need him.

The home will serve four people, all of whom had been living in developmental centers in New Jersey. This program was made possible through New Jersey’s Olmstead Initiative and through generous support of our Building for the Future Capital Campaign.

Please give a warm welcome to the first person to move in to Giuliano House, Patti! Patti had lived at North Jersey Developmental center for most of her adult life and is happy to be in her own home. Patti loves to sing and her favorite artist is Carole King.

"Patti is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She just has such an amazing spirit. Patti loves to sing and laugh and she is so curious about the world around her. She knows that she is in a place where she will be loved and cared for, but most importantly she is finding that she can relax and be in a family environment. She is already making great progress even though she’s only been with us for a short time. The future awaits her and we are all excited to see what it has in store for her and the future residents of Giuliano House," said Kelly O’Caiside, the new Director of Giuliano House.
