The Vision of Mary’s Hands is to provide a place where the poorest families in our community can seek support and understanding today, thereby empowering them to succeed and flourish tomorrow.

Our Mission is to offer immediate support to the most needy in the Morristown area in a caring and understanding manner. Mary’s Hands creates a welcoming environment for our clients where each individual is embraced, valued and given the opportunity to succeed. Mary’s Hands provides one-on-one family assistance with clothing and baby essentials as needed, connects clients with local services available in the community, and helps them navigate the challenges many encounter in a new country. Additionally, we offer periodic parent workshops as well as weekly ESL classes for adult learners. By furnishing essentials and connecting clients with local resources, Mary’s Hands endeavors to put clients on the path to self-sufficiency; helping them to assimilate and thrive in the community.

Why Do We Do It?
Mary’s Hands believes that it is important to maintain the integrity of the family and enrich every child’s life. We believe that in small caring gestures of love, hands reaching out to touch others with kindness and compassion, there is God.

History
All of the original volunteers of Mary’s Hands met while assisting the underserved alongside Sister Mary Beth Lloyd of Villa Walsh in Morristown, within the framework of John Corr Family Resources (a project of Religious Teachers Filippini). In 2019, when Sister Mary Beth was reassigned to Rome, Italy, we decided to bring some focus, order, and structure to our work in the Morristown area and formed Mary’s Hands as a ministry of Saint Margaret of Scotland Parish. Our purpose: to address the persistent and growing needs of the Morristown community.

We are thrilled to share that Mary’s Hands will become an official program of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson, effective Tuesday, October 24th, 2023.
